Bitmain publishes its Antminer warranty and repair terms across several pages: a short Product Warranty article on its support site, a longer After-Sales Maintenance Policy (titled "Service Terms and Conditions" and marked "Updated on Oct.20, 2025"), and help articles on repair tickets, shipping, fees and repair centers. This post summarizes what those pages said when I accessed them on October 23, 2026, with MicroBT's published policy for comparison. The policy states that Bitmain may amend it at any time, so current versions may differ.
Warranty Periods as Listed
The Product Warranty page states that the warranty period "is calculated from the official sales shipment date." Its table lists 365 days for BTC miners from the S19 onward, 365 days for APW series power supplies, 180 days for a separately purchased control board, and no warranty for spares sent alone (such as fans) or for models under an End of Service notice. The page says twice that the period is "subject to the sales contract." A Bitmain notice from November 2020 says the 19 Series warranty was extended from 6 to 12 months for existing S19 Pro, S19 and T19 units.
For replacement units, the Maintenance Policy says a Replacement Product "may not be a new Product but in good working condition," and that it carries the remaining warranty of the original product, counted from the original dispatch date. The same rule applies to replacement parts. A paid out of warranty repair carries a 15 day warranty according to the Product Warranty and repair cost pages, and the policy gives repaired mixed board products 15 days.
When the Clock Starts and the DOA Windows
The Maintenance Policy defines the Warranty Period as starting "from the date of dispatch (as such date is indicated on this website)," and adds that in case of doubt the period "as finally verified and confirmed by BITMAIN shall prevail." It defines DOA as a maintenance request within 30 calendar days of dispatch, and Second DOA as a request within 15 calendar days of dispatch of a repaired or replacement unit. The older After-Sales Shipping Policy article measures the same windows from the "date of delivery" shown on shop.bitmain.com, so the two pages use different starting words.
Under the policy, a ticket is created within the warranty period and the unit reaches the chosen service location within 15 days. If it arrives later, warranty status is judged by the actual arrival date. The Product Warranty page says a new ticket "has a validity of 7 days."
What the Policy Lists as Excluded or Voiding
The Maintenance Policy has two lists. The first covers cases where Bitmain says it will not provide maintenance at all, including damage from "third-party over-frequency software," forged serial numbers, models past End of Service, and units "repaired through cannibalization by third parties." It also covers scrapped units, with examples such as operation beyond specified ambient temperature or humidity, deleted or incomplete logs, ten or more restarts after a unit goes down, not upgrading firmware after a Bitmain notice, and overheating linked to limescale or dust. A help article shows eleven damage patterns, such as corrosion and burnt boards, that it describes as unrepairable.
The second list sets out conditions under which the policy describes the warranty as voided and repairs as charged. Its items include:
- operation outside specified parameters such as temperature, humidity and altitude, or contrary to the manuals
- drops, accidents and improper installation, storage or maintenance
- overvoltage, undervoltage, surges, moisture, lightning and corrosive environments
- disassembly or alteration by anyone other than Bitmain or its authorized providers
- parts not supplied by Bitmain, and unauthorized firmware or drivers, including firmware that enables an over frequency setting
- altered or removed "fragile" warranty stickers or serial labels, and mixed boards from different units
- daily wear and tear, and lost operation logs
Firmware is covered in my post on third party ASIC firmware trade offs. A Bitmain article says a fan returned alone is charged at about retail price regardless of warranty, while an in warranty miner returned whole has its fan replaced free. Fan faults appear in my post on Antminer error codes.
How a Repair Ticket Is Submitted
According to Bitmain's ticket instructions, the customer logs in to service.bitmain.com and selects courier delivery, which requires a tracking number and courier, or self delivery, which requires a delivery time and a bill of lading. The article says uploading serial numbers and logs "will be mandatory in the future." The policy asks for accurate serial numbers for the whole unit, control board, power supply and hash boards, plus logs and tracking details, and says Bitmain may decline service if they are wrong. For DOA claims, the DOA Process article asks for photos of the serial number tag and screenshots showing the unit did not work after connection.
The policy lets Bitmain choose between repair and replacement, says replaced parts are not returned, and, where a whole unit is replaced, asks for documents showing the unit lawfully entered the service center's country. Bitmain also publishes a "Warranty Statement" for customs clearance of repair packages. Import delays are covered in my post on Antminer customs detentions.
Shipping, Fees and Repair Centers
The policy states that the customer pays freight to the service center whether or not the unit is in warranty, and that Bitmain covers return freight after repair unless the policy says otherwise. Sea freight is not allowed because "the ANTMINERS are susceptible to moisture damage." Inbound transit risk sits with the customer, return risk passes on delivery to the first carrier, and local tariffs and taxes are the customer's.
For out of warranty work, the cost table lists USD 200 per S19 or S21 series hash board, USD 150 per power supply, and USD 60 for a unit returned without defects. The policy charges storage of USD 1.5 per day for mining products from day 31 after a fee estimate and treats units as abandoned after 95 days. The cost page states 35 and 36 days for the same storage terms.
The authorized repair center list, updated June 15, 2026, names 18 sites: one in Hong Kong, nine in the United States, one in Canada, two each in Kazakhstan and Ethiopia, and one each in Paraguay, the United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands, each limited to certain regions. The policy describes these centers as third party companies whose statements "cannot represent the position of BITMAIN."
The Sales Contract, Liability Limits and Disputes
The Product Warranty page ties warranty periods to the sales contract and states, "All sales are final." The policy says mandatory law or specific agreements between the parties prevail over it, and that clicking "I Agree" when creating a ticket means accepting it. It describes its express warranties as exclusive, disclaims implied warranties including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, excludes lost profits and consequential damages, and limits liability to the amount of the order, with a carve out for consumer rights. It names Singapore law and arbitration at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, before one arbitrator.
MicroBT's Published Policy, for Comparison
MicroBT's WhatsMiner product pages state "a one-year warranty period" and that a purchase "is considered as recognition of this policy." The nine listed exclusions include improper installation, unauthorized disassembly or repair, unofficial accessories or software, self modified operating parameters "such as overclocking," environmental and electrical conditions outside specification, altered serial numbers and natural disasters. The product page text I reviewed does not state when the period starts.
Common Terms in the Published Policies
- Start date: Bitmain counts from shipment or dispatch, subject to the sales contract.
- Repaired units: replacements carry the remaining original warranty, and paid repairs carry 15 days.
- Firmware and parameters: both manufacturers list unofficial software and modified operating parameters.
- Environment and power: both list conditions outside specification, such as humidity, corrosion and abnormal voltage.
- Freight: under Bitmain's policy the customer ships in at its own cost and risk, and Bitmain pays return freight on covered repairs.
- Remedies and forum: Bitmain's policy limits remedies and names Singapore arbitration.
Background on disputes over mining hardware and hosted machines is on the ASIC hosting practice page.
The short version
Bitmain's published terms count Antminer coverage from the dispatch date subject to the sales contract, list firmware, environmental and handling conditions that end free repair, and leave inbound freight with the customer.
Everything above comes from the manufacturers' published policy pages, cited below, as they read on October 23, 2026. Manufacturers change these pages, and the current versions may differ.
